We are very pleased to welcome two new members of the WeedWise team.

This month, the WeedWise program welcomes Hayden Jorde and Samantha Kelly as our newest team members!

Hayden Jorde is returning to the WeedWise program for his second year as a WeedWise Technician.  We are super excited to welcome Hayden back this year.  Hayden has is an amazing team member and has greatly contributed to our program over the last year.

Hayden’s career in natural resources has taken him all over the western United States. Previously, Hayden has worked as a restoration technician across the southwestern United States.  He has also been a forestry technician for the U.S. Forest Service, where he worked on wilderness trails. In Oregon, he has worked as an educator at Outdoor School, helping connect students to the natural environment around them. He has also worked as a wildland firefighter based out of Eugene, Oregon.

Samantha Kelly is joining our team as our newest team member.  Sam has a wealth of experience in plant identification and in managing invasive plants. She has hit the ground running and is immediately contributing to the WeedWise program and its work.

Prior to joining the WeedWise program, Sam worked in Yellowstone National Park treating invasive plants and helping to protect the natural wonder of the world’s first national park.  Sam has also worked for the Bureau of Land Management at the West Eugene Wetlands, managing invasive plants while improving habitat for threatened and endangered prairie plant species and an endangered butterfly.  Sam has also worked on in Northern California in various capacities on several ecological and botany related projects.

Hayden and Sam are supporting WeedWise Program management efforts across Clackamas County.  They will be contributing to nearly all of our implementation efforts, and will also be focusing much of their time to protecting natural areas in the Mt Hood National Forest during post-wildfire recovery and infrastructure redevelopment.

Learn more about Hayden and Samantha as well as our other WeedWise staff members on the WeedWise staff web page.
